Five persons were detained, according to the Richmond Police Department, when officers pulled over to investigate a suspicious car obstructing a driveway.
During a routine patrol near Kelsey Avenue and Duboce Avenue on Wednesday, September 11th, at around 6:30 PM, police reported that they noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle parked in the driveway of a house. All of the passengers in the car got out and tried to flee when they saw the police. After detaining the individuals, the officers had reasonable suspicion to search the car.
Two loaded handguns were discovered during the search, one of which was reportedly stolen from San Francisco. Since none of the five people claimed to be the owners of the firearms, they were all placed under arrest. Of the five people arrested, two are on parole.
Proactively following up, the same team of cops went back to the scene on Thursday, September 12th, at around 6:00 PM, and obtained a search warrant for the house. In order to carry out the search, the occupants were placed under arrest. K-9 Mako, who is trained to find weapons and ammo, accompanied them.
Officers and K-9 Mako found a loaded pistol, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana (street value estimated at over $40,000.) inside the residence.
