Teacher in Florida Bans Gen-Z Slang in the Classroom

When a Florida teacher chose to forbid Get-Z lingo from her classroom, she forfeited some aura points.

According to the New York Post, after Angela Santalo banned certain slang words from her classroom, her kids were shocked. The teacher has prohibited certain phrases, including “pookie,” “aura,” “bro,” and “womp womp.”

Santalo discussed what motivated her to compile the list of forbidden terms in an interview with The Sun.

“What prompted me to create the list of banned words was the constant repetition I heard from my students in class,” she explained.

“We’d be lining up for lunch, and I’d hear students saying, ‘you’re so skibidi’, or ‘that’s so sigma,'” Santalo went on.

“I find it difficult to understand how those terms fit into a typical conversation.” I’m glad I’ve put this in place since it helps kids learn self control and good speech. I’m trying to help them be better because it’s my responsibility as a teacher,” she continued.

Santalo posted video of the announcement that Gen-Z phrases will no longer be allowed in schools on her TikTok page.

She captioned the video, saying, “Words that are forbidden in my class after hearing them a million times.”

In the video, Santalo made a special mention of the word “pookie.”

“Please do not call me pookie; I am nobody’s pookie. Give up calling them “pookies,” the woman urged.

Santalo informed the class, “I’m doing this because I want you to speak like you’re more educated.”

Santalo reported that since the regulation went into effect, there have been very few infractions and that kids are quick to fix themselves.
