A peaceful evening in Adams County turned chaotic on Saturday, January 25, 2025, as multiple gunshots rang out near Othello. Deputies responded to the 600 block of South Kristina Road after reports of a drive-by shooting at a family home.
The bullets struck the residence, leaving visible damage, but no injuries were reported. For the shaken residents of the home and the surrounding community, the incident was a frightening reminder of how quickly violence can erupt, even in quiet neighborhoods.
The Hunt for the Suspect
Law enforcement officers soon went to work, gathering evidence and interrogating witnesses. Their inquiry led them to the principal suspect in the shooting, 27-year-old Brian S. Ramirez of Othello. Despite their attempts, deputies were unable to find Ramirez on Saturday night.
However, with the assistance of Othello Police, Ramirez was discovered the next day at his office. He was arrested without incident on Sunday, January 26. Ramirez is now in Adams County Jail, facing various charges stemming from the drive-by shooting.
Community Concerns and Reassurances
Following the shooting, Adams County authorities informed neighbors that it appeared to be an isolated event. “There’s no ongoing threat to the public,” one deputy stated, adding that they are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The quick identification and capture of the perpetrator provided some solace to the Othello community, but doubts remained. What drove the shooting? Was anyone within the house intentionally targeted? Investigators are working to answer these issues as the case progresses.
Moving Forward
For the time being, residents of South Kristina Road must deal with the physical and mental consequences of the occurrence. The community begs for clarification and justice as officials continue their investigation.
