Yahkeim Lollar, 17, was stabbed to death on December 20, and his family has been working tirelessly to put his girlfriend, Jahara Malik, behind prison.

“It took somebody that he trusted and loved, he wasn’t that kind of guy to be around the wrong crowd,” Darveed Lollar said.

Lollar’s relatives informed NBC6 that the girlfriend was questioned but not arrested following the death.

Lollar, also known as “Keimo,” was stabbed in the garage of their apartment complex near Northwest 6th Court and 61st Street.

Mother Nathalie Jean stated that she rushed downstairs after receiving a call that something had happened. Police informed her that Keimo had disappeared.

Lollar, a junior at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, was said to be loyal to his family. According to his mother, he enjoyed playing football and video games and hoped to work in finance one day.

Last week, after the family protested outside the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, prosecutors informed NBC6 that the case was under police investigation and that they were awaiting additional evidence.

According to records acquired by NBC6, Malik was arrested on a manslaughter charge on January 28 and taken to a juvenile centre.

According to the arrest paperwork, Malik was shopping with a companion on December 20. They took a ridesharing. The defendant claimed that when she utilizes ridesharing, she brings pepper spray, but that day she brought a knife.

According to records, after shopping, Malik and a companion called the victim and requested to meet at his home. Malik admitted to authorities that she was horseplaying with Lollar at his apartment complex. It’s unclear how the horseplay led to the fatal stabbing.

On Friday, Malik’s case was heard in children’s court, and prosecutors officially requested that the youngster be transferred to adult court.

According to records, Malik is currently in the adult county jail and may appear in adult bail court this weekend.

“They couldn’t find something to charge her with the night off when there was no question as to what happened or who done this, so I mean it’s, right now, it’s a little bittersweet,” Darveed said, reacting to the arrest.
