One student was killed, and another was wounded after being hit by a massive truck while riding their bikes near a middle school in Palm Beach County. The event occurred at 4 p.m. on Thursday near Woodlands Middle School in Lake Worth.
According to a Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office report, Landon Coggin, 13, and Elias Angel, 12, were riding bicycles on the shoulder of a road when they collided. According to the report, Coggin and Angel toppled onto the roadway, into the path of the vehicle, and were run over. Coggin was slain, and Angel was transported to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. According to the study, the truck’s driver did not contribute to the incident.
According to NBC station WPTV, both boys were in eighth grade at the school. “It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our students has died as a result of an off-campus incident.” In a note to parents, the principal of Woodlands Middle School stated that another kid engaged in the event is presently in the hospital. “I have been in contact with their families. On behalf of Woodlands Middle School, I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the deceased student’s family. I will do whatever I can to help our school community.”
