Winter Storm Hits Northern Utah and Southwest Wyoming

A major winter storm is affecting northern Utah and southwest Wyoming, dumping heavy snow in alpine areas and rain in lower valleys, according to the National Weather Service Salt Lake City office.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, snowfall will be heaviest in the Ogden Mountains and Bear River Range near the Idaho border. The Cottonwoods, Provo Mountains, and Western Uintas will also receive more snow, albeit at a lower intensity.

By Sunday morning, warmer temperatures will cause rain in the Wasatch Back and Ogden Valley, with snow levels rising to 7,500-8,000 feet. After the storm passes, Monday and Tuesday will be uncharacteristically warm, with temperatures reaching the 60s in the Wasatch Front and the 70s in southern Utah.
