Fog, Snow, and a Miracle: How Everyone Survived a Mountain Plane Crash

A small plane carrying three people crashed into Vermontโ€™s Equinox Mountain on the morning of February 26, 2025. The aircraft, which had departed from Baltimore, was flying through thick fog when it went down at approximately 3,200 feet above sea level.

Deep Snow Likely Saved Their Lives

The four to five feet of snow on the mountain, according to rescuers, was essential in absorbing the force and averting a more catastrophic result. All three passengers survived with non-life-threatening injuries in spite of the difficult circumstances.

A Challenging Rescue Mission

In order to reach the survivors, about 100 emergency responders had to brave difficult terrain and little visibility. The three are currently recuperating after being successfully flown to a nearby hospital after many hours.
