A late-night robbery at a North Miami Beach smoke shop turned deadly when the store’s owner, 35-year-old Salem Albakri, was gunned down while trying to flee. After months of investigation, police have arrested 18-year-old Tarvan Bowens Jr., charging him with murder in connection to the crime. But this case isn’t closed yet—authorities say two more suspects are still on the loose.
What Happened the Night of the Shooting?
It was June 11, 2024, when four men walked into Miami Cloudz Smoke Shop around closing time. What seemed like a regular sale turned violent within seconds.
While Albakri was turned away to get an item, one of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to surveillance footage. Albakri tried to escape through the back of the store but was shot in the back and collapsed moments later. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspects then fled, vanishing into the night.
