As negotiations between the union and the firm broke down, unionized FedEx pilots rejected a draft deal with the company on Monday.
The FedEx pilots’ contract with the corporation was rejected by a vote of 57 percent to 43 percent, according to the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), which did not provide a reason for the decision.
The union stated that further negotiations will take place under the direction of the National Mediation Board, adding that there is no deadline for doing so.
FedEx ALPA head Capt. Chris Norman made the following statement: FedEx pilots remain united, and that will drive a new path that will help produce an agreement that all FedEx pilots will be proud to support.
Norman added that while FedEx ALPA leadership will create a timeframe for evaluating the priorities of the pilot group moving forward, union members will regroup and get ready for the next stages.

United Airlines Reaches Agreement with Pilots on Compensation
Unionized pilots and FedEx were unable to come to an agreement, and a potential walkout by UPS employees is getting closer. The UPS Teamsters, which represents more than half of the workforce at the shipping giant, and UPS have been unable to reach a contract agreement.
Tens of thousands of employees have decided to strike in order to demand improved benefits and working conditions if the parties cannot come to an agreement on a new contract by the end of July.
With dozens of pilot groups represented, including those from United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air Canada, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, and Breeze Airways, ALPA bills itself as the largest airline pilot union in the world.
United Airlines said earlier this month that it had reached an agreement with the union that would increase pilot compensation by up to 40% over the course of four years.
