The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner has officially determined the cause of death for beloved All My Children actress Esta TerBlanche, known for her role as Gillian Andrassy. TerBlanche passed away at the age of 51 in July, and her death has been ruled an accident.

Accidental Fall Leads to Tragic Passing

According to the medical examiner’s report, TerBlanche died from an intracranial hemorrhage caused by a blunt force traumatic head injury. The injury was likely the result of a ground-level fall. On July 19th, her body was found unresponsive in her home, and paramedics pronounced her dead after 11 a.m. that morning. Esta TerBlanche, originally from South Africa, began her acting career starring in the popular local drama Egoli: Place of Gold as Bienkie Naudé Hartman. She later gained international recognition when she joined the cast of the American soap opera All My Children from 1997 to 2001. Her character, Gillian Andrassy, became part of a memorable and beloved on-screen romance with Cameron Mathison’s character, Ryan Lavery.

When Mathison’s dog, Red, was sick and paralyzed, TerBlanche volunteered to take care of him. “We hadn’t been in touch for a long time, so it came out of nowhere,” Mathison said. “After spending time with her, Red learned how to walk again. She was just a beautiful soul and had a healing spirit.”
