Meteorologists predict that the heaviest snowfall will occur between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, with snowfall rates potentially exceeding 1 inch per hour. Areas above 5,000 feet, such as the Bitterroot Range and the Continental Divide, could see localized accumulations of up to 24 inches. Winds gusting up to 40 mph are expected to cause blowing snow, reducing visibility to near zero in some locations.
