An old woman dies in car crash in Delray Beach

An 82-year-old woman died on Saturday afternoon after being involved in a car crash in Delray Beach earlier that day. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced that Beverlee Bearman-Reiter, of Boynton Beach, was driving a Fiat south on Jog Road when she pulled into the left turn lane. At the same time, a Lexus driven by Scott Florent, 30, of Boca Raton, was traveling north on Jog Road in the center lane.

The accident

According to the accident report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, when Bearman-Reiter turned left into the intersection at Jog and Morakami Park roads, her Fiat went into the path of the Lexus, causing the Lexus to hit the front of Bearman-Reiter’s Fiat, leaving Florent with minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

The aftermath

Bearman-Reiter was immediately taken to Delray Medical Center where she died a short time later, the report stated. While Florent sustained minor injuries, it was unclear whether he was also hospitalized.

Investigation ongoing

It is unclear at this time whether any charges will be filed against either driver, but the investigation is ongoing. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact their office.
