On early Saturday morning, a four-vehicle accident claimed the life of one person and injured several others in Boca Raton.
According to Boca Raton police spokesman Mark Economou, the incident occurred at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Palmetto Park Road. A 2006 Audi station wagon was reportedly speeding southbound on Dixie Highway while a 2021 Honda Civic carrying a driver and two passengers was driving eastbound on Palmetto Park Road.
The crash happened when the driver of the Audi station wagon ran a red light and crashed into the Honda Civic, resulting in the two other vehicles stopped at the red light on northbound Dixie Highway being impacted by the collision.
One of the Honda’s passengers was ejected from the vehicle’s left rear and died at the accident scene. Another passenger fled the scene and was later found at West Boca Medical Center. The driver of the Honda Civic sustained traumatic injuries and was taken to Delray Medical Center, while the driver of the Audi was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the other two vehicles were not injured.
