Two men are facing felony charges after opening fire on a convenience store in Hall County, Georgia, early Wednesday morning — with two women still standing in the parking lot.
The shooting took place around 1 a.m. on July 29 at Stop by Food Mart on Dahlonega Highway, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
How It Started
Two men arrived at the store in a red Ford Escape and went inside to buy alcohol. The 36-year-old store clerk refused the sale. The men argued with him before leaving.
Outside, a 39-year-old woman in the parking lot confronted one of the suspects in defense of the clerk. The two men then drove away — but did not go far.
Shots Fired
Investigators say at least one of the men fired shots in the distance after driving off. The SUV then came back, passing the store twice. On the second pass, the passenger fired a handgun directly toward the business while both women were still in the parking lot.
Two bullet holes were found in the building. No one was injured.
Suspects Caught Same Day
Deputies issued a lookout for the red SUV. Later that afternoon, Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office spotted the vehicle and detained both men at the intersection of Ga. 52 and Long Branch Road. They were arrested around 2 p.m.
Charges
The passenger, Travis Ian White, 17, of Adairsville, faces three felony counts of aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor charges including illegal possession of a pistol by a minor.
The driver, Cooper Lane Robinson, 23, of Murrayville, faces three felony counts of party to a crime of aggravated assault.
Both are being held in Hall County Jail without bond.
