A motorcyclist died Saturday morning after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. in the 8100 block of Southern Boulevard. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at 5:06 a.m., just minutes after the collision.
According to investigators, a 2023 Suzuki GSXR-1000 was heading westbound on Southern Boulevard when a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado pulled out of a parking lot at 8199 Southern Boulevard and made a wide right turn, cutting across all lanes of traffic.
The motorcycle struck the left rear of the pickup truck, deputies said. The force of the impact threw the motorcyclist off his bike and into the eastbound lanes of Southern Boulevard. The pickup truck driver was able to bring the vehicle to a stop near the median.
The motorcyclist has been identified as 33-year-old Eury Abreu Herrera of West Palm Beach. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the pickup truck, 31-year-old Diosdel Alonso, also of West Palm Beach, was wearing his seat belt and was not hurt in the crash. The crash report noted that drugs and alcohol were a factor in the incident.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the crash. It is not yet clear whether charges will be filed.
