A Kentucky grandmother has been arrested in connection with the death of her 1-year-old grandson, Mason Moulding, whose body was found Monday, July 27 at a home on Cottage Drive in Allen County.
51-year-old Tina Price of Scottsville faces charges of first-degree criminal abuse, multiple counts of animal cruelty, and two counts of knowingly neglecting a vulnerable adult.
Who Has Been Arrested
Price is the third person taken into custody in this case. The child’s mother, 22-year-old Alexandrae Price, and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Deavan Williams, were arrested earlier. Both face charges of first-degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under. They remain held at Simpson County Jail.
What Investigators Found Inside the Home
Detectives with the Allen County-Scottsville Criminal Investigation Unit say there were clear signs of extreme physical abuse. The conditions inside the home were described as health hazardous, with a bug infestation and rotten food found throughout.
Investigators say baby Mason had been living in the garage, which had a pipe connected to it that leaked feces.
Vulnerable Adults and Animals Also Rescued
Two adult males with autism were removed from the home and are now in a safe location.
Over a dozen animals were also seized from the property — including three dogs, 12 cats, and a possum. Authorities say most were in such severe condition that humane euthanasia is being considered necessary.
Investigation Ongoing
Mason Moulding’s official cause of death is still pending autopsy results. The Allen County-Scottsville Criminal Investigation Unit continues to investigate.
