CosMc’s is named after an obscure McDonald’s figure. He is a foreigner. CEO Chris Kempczinski stated during an analyst call about the company’s second-quarter financial results that CosMc’s is a small format concept with all of McDonald’s DNA but its own distinct personality.
He also said that there will be more information to share during the company’s investor day at the end of this year. Next year, McDonald’s intends to begin testing the idea in a few areas.
It’s unknown whether CosMc’s will follow in the footsteps of McDonald’s earlier experiments with smaller restaurant formats like McDonald’s Express.
McDonald’s has recently experienced success with its characters, especially Grimace, whose limited-edition purple shake went viral on TikTok.
When McDonald’s debuted the shake in celebration of Grimace’s birthday, it probably didn’t anticipate it to become so popular on TikTok, where users posted videos of themselves drinking the dessert beverage and then immediately writhing in pretend pain or acting dead.

Short Horror Movies Boost McDonald’s Sales
However, the short horror movies encouraged people to purchase shakes (if only to produce additional videos). And sales soared in the second quarter as a result of Grimace’s ominous impact.
Sales at McDonald’s restaurants open for at least 13 months increased 10.3% in the US during the three months that ended on June 30.
On June 12, McDonald’s began serving the special meal and shake it had prepared to commemorate Grimace’s birthday.
Globally, revenues at eateries open for at least a year increased by 11.7%, the business reported, mostly due to growth in China. In the quarter, total sales increased 14%.
McDonald’s claimed that growth in the US could be attributable to culturally relevant branding and marketing initiatives, as well as menu price increases and an increase in delivery, among other things, in a statement describing its second-quarter performance.
