Nothing compares to a hot bowl of soup on a cold New Jersey day, but can we be in violation of the law without even recognizing it?
Although it sounds ridiculous, this could very well be the case!
If this claim is accurate, New Jersey would undoubtedly have some of the most bizarre laws ever. The state is notorious for having some of the most bizarre laws ever recorded.
As we already know, it’s against the law in the Garden State to sell automobiles on Sundays, eat pickles on Sundays, or even pump your own gas.
I had to investigate the idea that it would be against the law to just eat a bowl of soup.
Everyone has encountered noisy diners or someone slurping their soup in the booth next to them, but should they really be fined for that?
Investigating further, I discovered…
Slurping Soup is illegal in New Jersey
Is it really true that this is a law?
It’s true that there are many socially inappropriate reasons to refrain from loudly slurping and chewing, but it’s absurd to think that you can face penalties!
Although this antiquated law is still technically in effect, it is rarely implemented.
It seems that a law is still in force unless it is formally repealed by the legislature. However, I don’t think this is a top priority for them.
